Carl Arthur McCallister (1917-1968)
Carl Arthur McCallister was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, March 28, 1917. He died from accidential injuries on the job with Springs Industries, Fort Mill, York County, SC Jan 7, 1968. He married Frances Kathryn Buchanan and they had seven Children.

George Robert McCallister Sr. (1853-1888)
George Robert McCallister Sr. was born in 1853 and died around 1888, just before the beginning of the 20th Century. He married Rosa P. (maiden name unknown). They lived in the Campobello, Spartanburg County, SC area where he farmed and raised two male children. "Robert", as he was known, received $100 on June 5, 1883 from his father Abram McCallister's estate. After his death Rosa McCallister married John Atkins and lived in the Whitney, SC area. Both young children--age 8 and age 4--were raised by their mother and step father. Rosa P. McCallister (Atkins) died March 24, 1940 from pneumonia that was contracted after she fell and broke a hip. Abram McCallister (1801 - 1882)
Abram McCallister (12/23/1801 - 2/18/1882) was born in Ireland and migrated to America between the years 1810 and 1830 (SEE EXCERPT FROM VOYAGE TO AMERICA 1766 BELOW). Settling in the Spartanburg County, SC area he was a large land owner--350 acres at one time--and a farmer. He married Virginia E. Burnett, called "Jincy" to all who knew her. She was born September 18, 1821. Abram died in 1882, 21 years before Jincy in 1903, and is buried in the McCallister Family Cemetery in boiling springs, Spartanburg County, SC. Abram signed a will dated November 16, 1861 leaving everything to his wife. They had eight children: Father> Unknown Children> 1. James W. No reproduction without permission) Arriving in America in the year 1822 at the New Bern Port in North Carolina when he was twenty-two years old, Abraham McCallister signed his name in the port of entry logs as Abram McCallister. Seeking others from his clan in Ireland, he located and stayed with friends and relatives at a large Clan MacAlasdar settlement near Cape Fear, North Carolina.

12th Century – Scotland The many spellings of the surname McCallister originated from the Clan Alasdair from Somerled, Lord of Argyll, through his grandson Donald who founded the large and mighty Clan Donald.
